Building Personal Home Libraries For Each Child
One of our goals is to build personal home libraries by giving each student a minimum of ten books throughout the school year. Our partners in this effort include Mount View Middle School, West Friendship Elementary School, Crossroads Community Church, Shiloh Middle School, The Harbour School and Ebb Valley Elementary School.
Building Academic Excellence Through Technology
Providing 1:1 or small group
instruction |
Choosing apps for each child's
individual needs |
Benefits:
There are many apps in the market place to educate children in a variety of categories. Appy Time For Learning researches the best apps based on children’s developmental levels and interests. The best apps must be assessed on the following criteria: connection to the curriculum, level of differentiation, user friendliness, student motivation, and type of measurable feedback to student or the teacher. |
Benefits:
Using 1:1 or small group instruction assists teachers in quickly observing student errors and providing opportunities for re-teaching based on student needs. Allowing students to teach one another in small group settings increases their understanding of the importance of collaborating and accepting other points of view. As students become more confident in their skills, they are more likely to take risks in exploring more advanced concepts. |
